Welcome to our Educator Tools page.

When Esta Vida Boricua was first conceptualized, one of its intentions was not only that it serve as a repository for community stories and be shared across the world, but also that it be shared with other writers and teachers as models for classroom writing and discussion activities.

Esta Vida Boricua is a wonderful resource for the classroom offering models to teachers of the types and genres of stories their students can produce that focus on various themes. The majority of stories published on Esta Vida Boricua, with the exception of those published in the Gallery, were the result of classroom writing activities.

The Educator Tools page provides teachers with innovative classroom writing activities ranging from creative to critical and generate writing practices and products.

The writing activities focus on themes of culture such as identity, otherness, community and family lore, mythology, history and traditions and so on. They aim to engage whatever writing technology available, from pen and paper to dramatic performance, to multi-modal/media elements. A list of links to story and writing technology is available as well.

For those of you who might want to share your classroom activities with teachers around the world, you may submit them by following the submission guidelines. Click here for Spanish.
