Welcome to Our Educator, Activities & Tools Page

NOTE: This section is currently being edited, designed and posted and will be available and functional by Summer 2015.

With the exception of those  published in the Gallery/Galería, which feature writers, artists, etc. from the community, the majority published on Esta Vida Boricua were the result of classroom writing activities.

When Esta Vida Boricua was first conceptualized, the intention was not only that it serve as a digital repository for community stories to be shared globally, but also that it be shared with other writers and teachers as models for classroom writing and discussion activities as well as a prototype for digital community storytelling.

Our goals with this Educator Activities & Tools page are to provide teachers with innovative classroom writing activities ranging from creative to critical and generate writing practices and products. We also want to provide information on useful tools and link to other projects or writing and storytelling technology.

We hope the writing activities that will populate this page can be used to generate themes of culture such as identity, otherness, community and family lore, mythology, history and traditions and so on. We hope they engage whatever writing technology available, from pen and paper to dramatic performance, to multi-modal/media elements.
